Claiming a gift card

This article explains how a customer can 'Claim' a gift card which has been gifted to them.

When selling a gift card, you have 2 options: to Assign the gift card or to Gift the gift card.

  • An Assigned gift card is immediately assigned to the recipient in their customer profile
  • A Gifted gift card is emailed to the customer at a scheduled time, and is not linked to the recipient's customer profile until they claim it. The same is true for gifted passes.

A customer can claim a gift card by opening the gift card email sent to them and clicking View online:

The customer can then either:

  • Use the gift card to make a booking (the gift card will become 'claimed' when it is used) or
  • Click Add to my account

The customer will be asked to find their Ovatu account, or create one, and then to click Claim Gift Card.

Once this is done, the gift card will be linked with their customer profile

On the Gift Cards page the Unlinked icon shows for gift cards that have not been claimed by the recipient:

  1. An example of an unlinked gift card
  2. An example of a linked gift card

You can also manually assign a gift card to a customer's profile by clicking Edit and then adding the recipient's name in the Customer field:
